It is a big step for the US to take and the consequences would be immense. This would be a trial of strength. Could the US summon the necessary political clout to ensure a significant worldwide boycott of China? Or would such action bring about a fundamental divide in world sports and world politics as the countries of the world made decisions For + Against?

It is a big gamble by the US. Can they arm-twist enough countries to join a Boycott? Or will they fall short and have egg all over their faces?
