GOOD MORNING FROM LONDON #208
Anthony Fauci, US President Medical Adviser in an interview on 1 May with the Indian Express says “India could learn from China’s disease control playbook in fighting its Covid-19 surge”
India reached a new record high on 1 May of 400,000 new daily cases with health care systems overwhelmed + patients struggling for access to care + supplies.
Fauci said building makeshift hospitals, like those used in Wuhan, could be an emergency stopgap measure. “What the Chinese did when they had a crisis, you might recall, within a few days they built these emergency units that served as hospitals”.
Fauci continued “I saw desperate people in need of hospital care. We know that when China had this big explosion of cases [in Wuhan] they completely shut down. You can shut down temporarily to end the cycle of transmission”
Fauci’s comments raise the questions. Can a democracy look after its people?
