GOOD MORNING FROM LONDON #206 2 MAY 2021

Yesterday – 1 May 2021 – the Times of London published a long article headed My Escape From A Chinese Internment Camp. It repeated many previous allegations against China. It is either true or untrue. If true, China is condemned as a barbaric state. If untrue, China is being wrongly attacked by its enemies.

Three points;-

First, if true why did not one of the 140m Chinese who travelled abroad in 2019 seek asylum in many of the many countries they visited.

Second, if true how come foreign travellers + foreign residents in China travel to Xinjiang frequently without restriction + never encounter any race hate.

Third, if true how come no foreign politician, diplomat or tourist has ever reported any race hate in China against the Uyghurs?

The allegations are not true. They are made in a desperate attempt to damn China in the eyes of world opinion. China’s rise has to be stopped – say its critics – so “label them as race haters on a par with the Nazis”

  1. Dear Professor Perry,
Thank you for your balanced views concerning the growing divisions between China and the West. As a UK based owner of a Chinese JV now 21 years old I have found the anti China bias fomented by the right wing Western media inaccurate and disturbing. Calling the Xinjiang situation a genocide is, in a sense, wicked I believe. Banning CGTN in the UK is not justifiable.
Please keep up the good work.

  2. My apologies for this late reply David – due to me getting up to speed on the technology.
Good to get your feedback and pleased to see the JV is 21 years old and going strong.
Keep well and keep in touch

    Best
    Graham
