US/UK Governments have stressed the the alleged expansionist threat from China to SE Asia countries in an attempt to bring about an anti-China alliance.

Today it is announced that the Philippines and China have agreed a deal for $940m freight railway deal – the Subic-Clark Railway Project- that will, symbolically, link two former US military bases in the Philippines. The announcement came during the last leg of a SE Asian tour by China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, that included Myanmar, Indonesia and Brunei.

The construction of the 71 kilometre single track freight railway will take 42 months.

President Duterte’s office issued a statement “Foreign Minister Wang underscored China’s commitment under President Xi Jinping to work closely with the Philippines to sustain the positive trajectory of the valued and special bilateral relations”.

Something to think about because the Agreement is so at odds with Pompeo/Raab pronouncements about China’s so called “threat” to the Philippines.
