I pose this question because it goes to the heart of current world politics. Is China the Villain of the Peace? Is China a Victim or a Perpetrator? Does China threaten the World or is China the one that is threatened?
These are important questions that dominate the conduct of world affairs so let’s look at them. Does China threaten Tibet? No Tibet is part of China and flourishes. Does China threaten Taiwan? No, Taiwan is China, not some independent country. The Kuomintang stole Taiwan in 1949 when they fled the mainland. Does China threaten Hong Kong? No, the US+UK encouraged insurrection on
the streets of HK. HK is prosperous. Is BRI “debt diplomacy designed to ensnare vulnerable 3rd World countries into China’s web? No, many recipients of BRI aid are struggling because of Covid but no asset seizures by China – merely extended terms of repayment.
The real story? The US is about to be toppled as the No 1 economy. It cannot accept the demotion. The US, therefore, tries at every turn to bring China down. China is under attack but it knows how to defend itself.
