Apple’s Surge in China

Apple reported its highest quarterly revenue of all time yesterday – 27 January 2021 – driven by strong sales of its first 5G iPhones, especially in China. For the three months ended 26 December 2020 Apple’s total revenue grew 21%.

Apple’s CFO, Luca Mastri, said “performance has been particularly strong in China where we’ve seen phenomenal customer response”. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said “China was more than an iPhone story.” Expectations are high for continued growth.

Again this development underlines the futility of continuing Western governments’ efforts to de-couple from China – to cut away from China and bring it to its knees and force the failure of the Communist Party leadership.

That horse has bolted. China can stand on its own two feet and still play a leading role in world affairs.

The solution for the West? – dialogue, discussion, negotiation, co-operation, collaboration.

A generation of Western leaders will rise and displace the Cold War Warriors and the world will be a safer place.
