Yesterday Toyota Motor announced the investment in the China autonomous-driving startup Momenta as part of a $500m expansion of Toyota’s development infrastructure in China.
Politicians Profess. Businessmen Act
So often we witness grandstanding political initiatives taken by politicians + diplomats + leaders. but they do not control events. Greater long term power is exercised by businessmen with profit + loss responsibility – people who see strategy, next steps and development. Businessmen have to deliver. They know instinctively where the future is located.
So when you have a conflict between Political Leaders and Big Business about the right direction, think about the plans of Business before you listen to the comments of Leaders. Toyota knows China matters. They are deepening their commitment to China. Their political leaders in Tokyo – and the Quad – are reading it wrong.
