Since 1949 the West, has focused on weaning China away from the founding ideal of the Party to build socialism. The US has tried different strategies. None have worked – political/military confrontation, tried to isolate China, academic attempts to introduce “human rights” norms, trade and tariff assaults + fundamental mis-representations.
In truth, China has grown in confidence/achievement. The Party remains in control – its people remain contented.
Trump went head-to-head + lost. Biden will try a new way – first, to try to grow the US at home with more education, more infrastructure, more high-growth technologies. Second, to try to re-build alliances with Europe/Far East + match China’s worldwide Belt+Road Initiative.
Can the US succeed? Two problems; first Trump (with 74m votes) lurks in the margins preparing for a comeback. Second, can the US bounce back economically + politically?
