GOOD MORNING FROM LONDON #205
In my post 202, I drew attention to the decision by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) to invest $2.8bn in installing new production lines in Nanjing, China to increase the production of semiconductors in automobiles.
Today Nikkei Asia reports that Taiwan has instructed staffing/job vacancy companies “to remove all listings for jobs in China”. This also applies to iPhone assemblers – Foxconn + Pegatron. Violation brings heavy fines. China is building up its semiconductor industry which has intensified demand for Taiwanese engineers.
Politicians have one policy – Isolate China. Businessmen + technical staff have another policy – More With China.
Geo-political moves led by the US-run counter to the commercial priorities of the people. That is the reality. And that is why, eventually, cooperation will replace confrontation + the World will benefit. The Taiwan labour force wants to go to China.
