China’s aircraft carrier Shandong passed through the Taiwan Strait to conduct training in the South China Sea, the PLA announced yesterday. Passage through the Strait on the West side of the Strait was the chosen route instead of going through the island’s wider eastern waters is seen as a message to Washington. In response the US stated that their “military will continue to fly, sail + operate anywhere international law allows”.
The US says China is expansionist + has imperial aspirations. China says the US is imperial and acts as an Emperor. The US is the largest economic power – for another five years. It does not want to be demoted. It is a humiliation. In the US thinking, China has to knockback. War is a real threat.
Will War Break Out? – Maybe. Peace cannot be taken for granted. China’s progress is remorseless. There are generals in Washington who want to land a blow + if they do, China will respond. War Is A Possibility
