China/US Tit for Tat in the early days of Biden’s Presidency.
The Presidential Inauguration in Washington was attended by Hsiao Bikhim, Taiwan’s representative in the US. The US has always accepted China’s position of One China – Beijing’s China. There are no two Chinas. Second point; Taiwan has always been part of China + not a separate country + long before Chiang Kaishek fled China in 1949 having lost the Third Civil War.
Territorial integrity has been the inflexible policy of China since 1949, especially when moves to detatch or separate borders/provinces from China has occurred – eg Tibet, Xinjiang, China-India border in 1962 + today, + China-USSR border in 1969.
China’s response? To fly its fighter jets + bombers over Taiwan’s air space twice since the Inauguration – 4 J-16 fighter jets, 6 H-6 bombers + 1 anti-submarine aircraft, followed yesterday by 15 Chinese military aircraft including 12 fighters
China + US are alert to each other + the danger always exists that mistakes can happen + hostilities occur. China hopes for the best but is preparing for the worst. Uncertain times ahead.
