Much news about China – a speech on China by Biden to the State Dept; information of China’s new harder line on bankruptcies; completion of optic undersea cables with Pakistan. Also in Beijing 7 new subway lines will begin operations in 2021.
China is increasingly prosperous. Its people see a better lifestyle all around them. Incomes are rising. Shops are open. Covid-19 was quickly controlled. People feel safe.
There will always be moans; disputes about planning permissions; which Provinces to benefit from investment; facilitating job opportunities for graduating students.
But seven new subway lines strike a chord. Imagine if Northern/ Jubilee/Central/Bakerloo/Circle/District/Victoria all commenced in the same year. China’s 7 will be smaller as there is an existing network but 7 is still 7. Things have come a long way since 1949 when China was labelled “The Sick Man of Asia”.
Progress has to be good for the people.
