The Quad comprises US, Japan, India + Australia. The four countries are reported to be increasing co-operation to counter the influence of China. The Quad emerged in 2007 to co-ordinate relief following the Tsunami that devastated Indonesia but now the focus is anti-China.
Small things are happening. The four countries participated in Malabar – a joint military exercise; the militaries of the Four are sharing more intelligence + the Four joined together in Sea Dragon – an anti-submarine warfare exercise. The US + Australia have been given re-fuelling rights at Indian bases. The 4 countries are also engaging to counter China’s vaccine efforts
India is concerned that the US is driving India into an unwelcome alliance, especially following recent military dis-engagement on China-India border.
This is the ebb+flow of international affairs. Certainly China does not feel isolated + her success continues to worry the US who fall further behind China.
